Each time I draw at a park or another place in Shanghai, I add a little light to this map. The location, the painting and what I noticed that day gradually find a home here.

The painted background is an artistic arrangement, not a geographic projection or navigation map. Dark markers show places I have visited; outlined markers are references.

Paotaiwan Wetland Park
上海吴淞炮台湾国家湿地公园
The riverbank, passing boats, shade, and wetlands are the most distinctive subjects to sketch here.
Sitting in the shade, I can watch boats in the distance and hear the river against the bank. Wind, mosquitoes, and changing light are also part of being there.
Address: 206 Tanghou Road, Baoshan District (west gate)
Opening arrangements: Regular opening hours await confirmation from the park.
The entrance address has been checked. Seasonal schedules found were older, and recent schedules came from holiday announcements, so neither is displayed as a year-round timetable.

Tall trees, lawns, lakes, and a deep woodland atmosphere make this a place to paint slowly on a weekday morning.
The park is large, so I usually choose only a few spots and paint around two pieces in a morning. There is plenty of shade, but sun protection and insects still need attention in summer.
Address: 288 West Guangzhong Road, Jing’an District (north gate)

Tree shadows on the lawn, distant roofs, and water beneath willow branches are the subjects of these two Gucun Park paintings.
Each of the two views is paired with a location photograph, with additional records of the paintings beside my supplies and in front of a pink mailbox.

Opening arrangements: Opening and last-admission times await confirmation from the zoo.
Official introductions give both 08:00–16:30 and 08:00–18:30. Their applicable seasons and distinctions between ticket sales and closing are not consistent, so neither is treated as regular hours here. The zoo can be contacted at 021-62687775.

Opening arrangements: Hours for public green space and individual attractions require separate confirmation.
The accessible notice on the official website still gives old hours from 2022, so it is not used for current travel. Shenyuan Garden, the greenhouse, Twin Hills, and other attractions have separate rules. Reopening after the August 2026 typhoon closure also needs confirmation from the park.

A white wall and round window among the trees, and waterside trees with distant buildings, are the subjects of these two Shanghai Botanical Garden paintings.
The scene photographs and paintings form two groups. Another photograph of the same painting beside my supplies is available in an expandable section.

A woodland path, a pavilion and bridge beside the lake, and tree shadows on a grassy slope bring the plum garden’s autumn colors and fallen leaves onto paper.
The plum garden is the representative map point, showing autumn sketches from different viewpoints within it.
